James thinks about the sunken ship

The last person to be rescued from Italy's shipwrecked Costa Concordia has said he pounded on a wall with a frying pan to alert rescuers. Manrico Giampedroni, the ship's purser, waited nearly 40 hours before being rescued from the belly of the ship. He described falling through a door into the ship's restaurant as he tried to save passengers.

And in the bible story Jonah and the Whale where he swallowed by a whale and got stuck in the belly and was traped for 40 days.

They are mostly the same by them both being 40 hours or 40 days and they were both stuck in the belly of the whale or a ship

Jacob thinks about an attempted bombing

I am going to talk about the attempted stock exchange bombing in London. The 4 bombers Mohammed Chowdhury, Shah Rahman, Gurukanth Desai and Abdul Miah who were inspired by the well known al-queida terroist organisation pleaded guilty of attempting to place a bomb in the londons stock exchange toilets, bearing in mind that they attempted this in 2010 and they have only now been found not inocent.  This shows that no matter how long you try lying you will always be found out eventually. This event relates to the bible story adam and eve. Adam tried lying that he did'nt take a bite out of the apple that eve tempted him with, in the end god found out and he was punnished. If he didnt lie would his punnishment have been less?

Keiran thinks about a family murder

Three daughters were murdered by their parents for failing to follow strict family's code of honor.

The mother and father of a 13, 17 and 19 year old girls were murdered as they didn't follow there family’s strict Islamic code they were murdered on the date of June 30th, 2009 the oldest of the daughters had a secret boyfriend who she later got married too without seeking permission from the family, the youngest aged 13 was caught shop lifting and in addition the two youngest reported their father and brother as they sought help from authorities. Jesus or God wouldn’t have reacted in such a way as he would have given forgiveness and tried to understand the girls, as they were probably driven to do a few bad things because of the way they were treated.

Daniel's thoughts

People in the slums of africa are starving because of the lack of food and water; are not in good living conditions.

I can relate this story to the bible story of jesus when he went into the wilderness with no food or water living in  uncomfertable living conditions.

Richard's thoughts

A mother and father in a recent news story where accused of disobeying the parents "code of conduct" and murdered them. If the parents had forgiven their daughters like in the story of Esau and Jacob in Genesis 25, 27, 32, and 33, they would most likely be alive. The story is about Jacob and Esau and their father was dyeing and they would each get half of what he owned. Jacob pulled off a scheme to fool Esau into giving Jacob more inheritance, but in the end Esau found out and Jacob ran for his life into an other country. Jacob avoided his brother until one day he ran into each other. Jacob was afraid Esau would seek vengence on him but instead Jacob ran to him embraced him and showed him forgiveness and mercy. The biblical story relates to the article due to the fact that forgiveness could solve anything. The article states that if the parents had remained calm and forgiving they would most likely be alive today, showing that forgiveness solves anything.
